Colva and Varca beach
Its almost going to be a year that we took the phenomenal trip to Goa. Sadly Goa posts are not done yet. So I decided to finish off my Goa posts first and then move onto Greece.
It was our last stop of our beach hopping tour. I was already getting emotional..it was our last night in Goa. According to our hectic itinerary, we had two more stops after Colva, Varca beach and cabo de Rama fort. With the sun almost trying to hit the horizon, it seemed foolish to carry on. We were already 65 kms away from our hotel, and riding back on a bike through the national highway 17 in the dark was overwhelming. Leaving for Cabo de rama fort meant an additional 40 kms and would be a blunder. I tried to calm down my overenthusiastic travel partner and consoled him by agreeing to go further to Varca beach.
Last time when I visited Goa with my parents, we stayed at Colva beach. Hence this place was very close to my heart and I remembered most of its corners. Its a crowded beach, and seemed chaotic after the tranquil atmosphere of Arossim beach and Majorda beach. We decided not to waste too much time here. Indulged in a bit of watersports and left for varca. Since it was going to be dusk soon, it would have been foolishness to procrastinate further.
Varca beach was not too far. But by the time we reached, it was almost dusk. The beach was lined with whistling pines or she oaks( as some call) and was a welcome change from the coconut studded beaches. We took a quick dip while witnessing the sun go down and finally drown in the Arabian sea.
It was pitch dark when we left for Calangute. I was scared to death and clung tightly to hubby. The breeze was freezing. Thankfully, we reached safely after riding for two and a half hours. I would suggest never to ride a bike in the dark on national highway 17!! This highway connects Mumbai ang Mangalore through Goa so you can imagine the amount of traffic!! Thanks to God once again!!
