You must be thinking what I had been wondering before our trip to Italy. How many islands are there in Venice? To my surprise, there are 118 submerged islands in the Adriatic Sea. Not only that, there are 400 foot bridges and 170 boat canals!
So as you already know now, Venice is composed of a group of tiny islands. While some are well known, some are not. By well known I mean frequented by tourists. Some of the well known are Murano, Burano, Mazzorba, Torcello, Lido, etc. While some are absolutely non motorable like Murano and Burano; Lido island even has buses running on it! Our first day on our Venice itinerary had the islands of Murano and Burano on it. However first it took uncalculated time to reach our resort and then we spent more than the allotted time in the pool. Hence we had to cut short our trip.
Reaching the main island of Venice from Marghera was a task in itself. We had the 48 hour all transport pass  hence getting on and off was not an issue. After we reached Venice, we took instructions as to how to board the vaporatto to Burano. It was already six in the evening as hence all the lace and glass shops were closed; things that made those places famous. Also Burano was one and a half hours from Venice so it was a bit too late.
If we left both the islands for the next day, then it would have been risky. How can one possibly cover endless spots in a single day? So we took the vaporatto to Burano. It was a really long ride. I mean the island of Venice itself had so many stations before we actually left for no where land.
How long does it take to get to Burano?

It took one and a half hours by water taxi or vaporetto. The ride on the sea was rather fascinating. Vaporatti and water taxis operate all night long; so there are provisions of light in the water too. Strange it is for us when we don’t even have light on the roads. First we crossed Torcello and then Murano. Each island looked like mini Venice. Finally we knew when we approached Burano. We saw the most beautiful of colourful houses all around.

What is the island of Burano famous for?
Apart from the pretty colorful fishermen houses, Burano is mainly famous for its delicate lace. Although Burano glass is also famous.
I had mixed feelings. I was in joy as I had never been in such a fairy land. Sad as it was already dark. These colourful dwellings were fishermen’s houses. I jumped around the little bridges on the canals and took pictures. We had no regret that the lace shops and museum were closed. We snuck into a few shops from the windows and was satisfied. Though visit to the Museo do Merletto would have been a cherry on the top.

Being a medico doesn't mean that I am overtly health concious or an obssessive compulsive person on a pathological level. I do know at every point where I am wrong or what could have been done in a healthier way but that doesn't stop me from living my life! If you are a long time reader, you would be knowing how much I am fond of food and really don't think much before popping anything into my mouth. I always make resolutions on January only to break them a couple of days later. However this year I decided not to make resolutions but intentions ( inspired by other worldwide bloggers) The only intention I made was to make healthy choices. I mean not to cut down on the amount of food that I eat but to choose greener options over junk. Along with clean eating I decided to go for organic, paraben free products for personal use.

So what made me switch to paraben free products all of a sudden in 2018?
Firstly, paraben free products were not readily available earlier or were exorbitantly expensive. Now they have become common.
Being a mom has made me wiser. My baby has a life span of 25 years more than me! It's imperative that I protect her from unnecessary chemicals.
A lot of small scale industries have started manufacturing such products. These are usually a brain child of mothers which ensure that you are getting the best items and not something which has been manufactured at a mammoth level. One such great brand which I came across is Mama Earth, which makes organic, paraben free products for both Mama and baby. Everything is 100% toxin free and natural! Here are a few things that I got to try on and would love to switch to their entire line!
Root Restore Hair oil: I spotted my first grey hair after giving birth and 4 years later, there are now tens of them. And don't get me started on hairfall...I guess every mother can relate! So I need something extra than coconut oil and this is the answer. This is a concoction of Rosemary oil, Bhringraj oil and Vitamin F.

Price: 399 INR for 100 ml. Pump Bottle.
This oil really rejuvenates the roots. I also love the soft rosemary smell. My hair has become stronger after few applications. Also I love the packaging. A pump bottle is always so handy!

No more tangles Conditioner: Being the quintessential curly haired girl, I simply can't think of washing hair without a conditioner. This one makes my frizzy hair much tame. It contains milk protein, cocoa butter and Fenugreek. It smells heavenly!

Price: 349 INR for 200 ml. Pump Bottle.

Natural Lip balm: This one is really interesting. It's a pack of three for baby, mama and papa! How cool is that? I am relieved that what my daughter is putting on her lips ( and licking eventually) is absolutely chemical free!

Price: 299 INR for 4 gms * 3

Clean Cuties Skin Cleaner: How many times does your kids soil his/ her hands with marker or sketch pen or colours? You are not alone! I had to scrub my daughter's tiny hands vigorously after every such activity before I had this cleaner. It's so effective and absolutely safe! Plus it's so travel friendly. I can never imagine to go out with her without this magic cleaner now!
It is a lavender and coconut based cleanser. It has antibacterial action too! Again the spray bottle is very handy.

Price: 199 INR for 100 ml.

It's never late to switch to a healthier regimen. One can choose to be wise and still enjoy life. Have you made any resolutions for 2018? What are they? If not, try making some intentions!

Google...the six letter word that changed people's lives! There is not a single person on the planet (at least I think so) who is not impressed with Google and I am no exception! Tech guys dream of working with this internet giant. While people like me (with a medical background) can only dream of having a peek at its office. Thankfully, my other profession (that of a blogger) fulfills little bit the technology part. I had been longing to visit the Gurgaon office ever since I had seen many tech bloggers flaunting their Google guest IDs. My prayers were answered when I got an invitation from there for a user survey. Being a blogger sometimes pays in the most unexpected ways! The best ones:

Driving the All New Honda Jazz on Budh International Circuit

Driving the new Tata Hexa in Hyderabad

I was really excited and thought of doing a photoshoot as well as an OOTD there. I donned new clothes, entirely from Zaful and was ready. As you can see, I am in love with bell sleeves (husband not too impressed BTW) He loves these leather pants although. However I did not bring my DSLR because firstly, it is bulky and a liability. Secondly, most offices ban using of a professional camera. I had to satisfy myself with mobile clicked pictures only.
However, a part of me was apprehensive as to what if they did not allow any photography? Well I marched inside but things quite did not turn out what I had expected.
Here are what I found inside Google office:

The security at the main entrance is very strict. I mean even after showing the invitation mail they did not let me in. I had to call the person who had invited me.

Photography is BANNED inside the office! Too sad 😓

The employees are really well dressed with tonnes of makeup (girls of course) I mean I could not imagine sporting a red lip inspite of being a fashion blogger inside the office but they were!

I could not explore much of the office as there was no one to escort me.
This picture was taken by my surveyor inside her office!
The survey session was tedious. I mean it was 90 minutes of rapid fire with just a glass of water for a break!
However I did manage to keep the Guest ID badge with me.

After I was done, I roamed around on the outside. There was a cricket pitch too! Guess what? I got my pictures clicked by a gardener! How crazy is that?

Located on top of a huge rock in the middle of Kosi River, Garjiya temple near Jim Corbett National Park is dedicated to Goddess Parvati. This temple is a Shakti Peeth and is, therefore, one of the most famous holy shrines in Uttarakhand.

Top post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

The temple and its existence are associated with a legend that has many versions. The most popular version says that around 150 to 200 years ago, there was a flood in Kosi River and in that flood, a rock came tumbling towards the Garjiya Village. It is believed that Bhairav Dev stopped the rock and ever since, Goddess Parvati, worshipped as Girija Devi in the village, has been residing in the rock.
Another version goes like this: when Kosi River flooded, a devotee of Lord Shiva asked his sister Garjiya to marry the river and reside in it. Obeying his wish, Garjiya married Kosi and started residing at the rock, which stopped the flood. The locals say that since then, there has never been a flood in Kosi River. You may get to hear these legends and many other stories about the village and its famous temple on your family vacation to Jim Corbett. Make sure that your kids are with you when a local is narrating these stories; after all, who enjoys stories more than children!
The sobriquet Land of Gods aptly defines the state as the number of sacred places to visit in Uttarakhand is exceptionally high. However, that isn’t all you get to see here. Among the places to visit in Corbett, many heritage sites are also included that teach kids a great deal about history and culture.

How to reach

Situated on the outskirts of Jim Corbett National Park, the renowned Garjiya Temple is about 75km from Nainital. It is located in Garjiya Village near Ramnagar. The nearest railway station is in Ramnagar, which is about 12km from the village. If you choose to travel by air, the nearest airport is located in Pantnagar.

Best time to visit

Apart from monsoon, you may visit the temple anytime of the year. However, the best time would be during the months of November and December as every year, on Kartik Purnima, there is a grand festival held at the temple. This festival attracts tourists from all over the country who come here to seek blessings from the goddess.
Where to stay

Enjoy a unique blend of bare nature and modern comfort even in the wilderness at Club Mahindra Corbett resort, Uttarakhand.  Are you over the picturesque celebrations of Virushka wedding yet? Me neither. As soon as any of their Italian nuptial snapshots pop in my feed, I can't help but dive into them further. Their smiles, their trousseau, the decor and above all the venue have me on my toes all the time. A Tuscan wedding...it could not be dreamier than that. Well as far as its distant in our lives (such kind of wedding, duh!) there is no harm in exploring that part of the country! FYI The guest villas cost them 13.5 lac INR per night. Thankfully we went to Italy before they got married (yayy) and so could relate with the Tuscan countryside more. So if you plan a trip to this boot shaped country, then make sure to explore the sunshine state of Toscana. Its purely blissful! The Tuscan countryside is my dream idea of village life. They got married in Sienna which is near Greve, the place we explored. You can very well understand why they chose this locale!

After exploring the village of Montefioralle on foot (we could not hire a scooter because of license issues) and walked down to Greve. Then from the bus stop, we took a bus to Panzano, a tiny village in Chianti. Since we bought the tickets on board, it was 2 euros per person. The bus was absolutely empty. We thought that we would know when we would hit Panzano. But we were so engrossed in watching the countryside that we missed it and kept on sitting. Suddenly the bus driver yelled 'Are not you supposed to get down at Panzano'? Oh no! that meant walking on the slopes again :(
Panzano was more town like than a village.
There were fancy restaurants everywhere, one in which we had lunch. Chianti is famous for its wine. We wanted to buy Chianti wines as gifts from this region itself. We walked to the nearest winery that caught our fancy. This lovely lady was an American settled in Italy. She convinced us to buy the wines from her place. She said that she had noticed my hat and colourful dress while we were having lunch and she loved my lip colour. Talk about great marketing skills!

We decided to explore the village before it was our time for the bus back to Florence. We again started walking up the slopes to get some gorgeous views of the valley. There were various Trattorias on the way which would have provided good food plus great views. Unfortunately our stomachs were already full so there was no space for regret. We walked to the end of the village where there was a church. Since it was afternoon, it was closed. I had enough photos of the stone mansions and cobbled streets. So for the first time, I decided to enjoy the place rather than hopping here and there for photos!
There was still time left for our bus. So we decided to sit at the edge of the valley near a big house. We could hear people insde and somehow it made us feel secure. How that half an hour passed, no one knew! Our last Tuscan village adventure ended on a peaceful note indeed.

So the day of love is just three days away! Are you fretting on what to do or where to go with your date? Well then I here come to your rescue. After six years of marriage and one year of dating experience, I can say that I may know a bit about this game. You can ask my close friends whether my dating advices are effective or not. Though personally as a couple, we don't celebrate this particular day. Reason? The husband does not believe in it. Secondly, our wedding anniversary is just four days before Valentines. So we usually have already celebrated it in a big way before. Although I would always be game to have a double celebration!

Date night or not, I always like to get dressed up for V day. Although red is my colour, I like to break stereotypes and go for other hues of love. Here is a wishlist which would be perfect for a Valentine Date Night from Fashionmia.com
Plus Size Clothing: Just because you are on the highre size of the weighing scale does not mean that you can't dress up nicely! Lace feels flirty and romantic. Since lace already is peek a boo, I like full sleeves with lace. This lace maxi dress is a dreamy outfit for this special day. Find it here.
Off Shoulder is really big this season. This maxi dress screams Special Date Night all the way! Find it here.

Pink Romper: For the demure and girly, this romper in Barbie Pink is so flirty and feminine!
Womens Tops: Just like the other hot trends, Bell sleeves have been ruling the ramp for quite a while. You can pair this one with a skirt or pant or shorts even! Find this here.

So which one of the above is favourite of yours? Or what are your outfit plans for Valentines? Let me know!
