Donot judge a post by its title!! This is especially because you may start thinking that Bangla Street has something to do with me being a Bengali and West Bengal!! He he... no its not!! This place is the most happening ( read vibrating night life) in Phuket. In fact it ranks next to Amsterdam in night life!!

Bangla Street is in Patong, the place where we stayed in Phuket. Our hotel was walking distance from this notorious street as well from the beach. The day we landed in Phuket, it was almost night. We were dead tired but after freshning up we decided to drag our bodies to the scintillating street.
It was about midnight when we changed currencies and headed towards THE AREA.

There was no need to ask for directions as we followed the flashing lights and loud music. Our trail finally led us to the beginning of the street and it was a huge shock for us!! Scantily clad women or almost next to birthday suits ( who were not women actually but lady boys) were dancing openly on table tops. Those who were not dancing were roaming provocatively for prospective clients. The more sordid activities were not open on the streets but were happening inside the bars. Those like ping pong shows, etc were not allowed to be photographed.

Among the skin and sin we found fun in the glittering lights and foot tapping music. There were delicious street food too. It was 4 in the morning when we left for our hotel but the place was vibrating as if it was 7 in the evening. It was a major eye opening experience for us!!

Its been quite a while ( read 6 months ) that I had a real vacation. I have been going on day trips but the wanderer in me desparately needs a long vacay away from the hustle bustle of life. As that is not possible as of now since my angel is just six weeks old, I continue dreaming about my good old carefree days when I could laze whenever I wanted!!

Since I have taken break from my clinic and started the real job of being a mom, I have developed a ridiculous habit of going through my old pictures. Well there are so many of them that my folder is not over yet, in six weeks!!

Today I was going through my Phuket folder, I saw the beautiful pictures of sightseeing and decided to do a post on it. Phuket is a pretty large island in the Andaman Sea. Its the perfect amalgamation of scenic beauty, nightlife, shopping and religion!! As I write down this post, I came up with the idea of writing about the shocking night life in my next!!

We left for the city tour early in the morning after a hearty breakfast. Our first stop was Karon view point where we could catch a bird's eye view of all the three prominent beaches of Phuket... Patong, Kata and Karon beach. We were staying in Patong, and that was the farthest from that view point.

Our next stop and probably my favourite was Promthep Cape. This was the place where the Andaman Sea united with the Indian Ocean. Apart from breathtaking views, I was fascinated by the number of windmills there. I have always loved windmills, the first ones I saw were in Puri when I was probably three years old. Unfortunately, there were no digi cams at that time to take insignificant pictures according to my Mom. I saw plenty of these wind turbines after that but could never get clicked with them. So one more wish of mine was fulfilled here :)

wish I could be on one those yachts!!

While I am writing down this post I have realised that I probably have a thing for temple tours. Not that I am very religious, I am God fearing but rituals...no no!! Maybe I love temple tours as temples are great architectural examples and hence provide interesting photo ops!! Again me the eternal photo crazy person!!

The interesting thing about this post is that earlier I have written about international temple tours here and here. I used to feel that terms like temple tour, mall tour et al are used for commercialization. But why not use this term when such trips are organised by ourselves? Theres no harm in that!! So when I decided to visit the Chattarpur Temple complex, I gave this trip a fancy name :D

Chattarpur is in southern most part of Delhi. This temple complex is really huge..infact so vast that it is impossible to cover on foot in a day if you are a details observer like me. However we had a couple of hours in the evening and we covered in a jiffy without concentrating on the architectural details!! The icing on the cake was that it was a perfectly sunny afternoon when we left only to be caught between heavy showers and a thunderstorm!! As you must know, clouds are the worst enemy of any photographer!!

The main Chattarpur temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. The adnexal temples belong to various other Gods. There is a large complex dedicated to the Jain community.

The moment we entered the Laxmi Narayan temple, I saw the sun playing hide and seek with the clouds. I sensed imminent photographic danger and asked hubby to click as fast as possible. But the unpredictable nature fooled us and a violent windstorm brought us down with gallons of water!!
We scurried to a shelter (also a part of that temple) and so many other pilgrims were waiting there for the rain to stop. I would not say they were like us as we were tourists; not pilgrim in real sense :D

After the sky cleared up, there was water logging everywhere. The sun did not come up and it can be seen from the less satisfactory quality of pictures!!
However I had a wonderful time as I got the eluding oppurtunity to jump in puddles!! The funniest part being my long skirt got wet!! Its a temple tour after all!! I had to cover up :D

I have a thing with doors :D

who knew the next moment would be a storm??

The day when I found out I was expecting, my happiness knew no bounds; hubby being overexcited as he is the one desperate for kids. But along with joy, there were myriads of apprehensions for me. What about my work, my free life and the newest concern..my blog!! I knew that soon I was going to bloat and I would have to bid goodbye to all my beautiful fitted clothes. The main concern was how was I going to get myself clicked for my blog posts!! :(
Hubby had a great idea. He suggested that in return for the wonderful gift I am going to give him, he would take me to a new place every weekend or other day off to get myself clicked; before I start putting on weight so that I have enough topics and photographs to post. Well, that sounded like an awesome idea and I, the eternal 'ghoomakkar' took full advantage. :D
Our first such outing was Indraprastha Park where there is a beautiful Buddhist corner. The architecture there resembles the famous Sanchi Stupa. There are various Buddha statues in different positions. The overall ambiance is very soothing, like the one you expect to find in a monastery.

Well I am a bit late in posting this..infact a week late to be precise. So many things have been going on in my life and I struggling to getting used to all the changes has left me puzzled!! I had even forgotten my blog anniversary date!! It had been continuously at the back of my mind that my first post was on 14 April; its only today that I have realised that no, I had started my blog on 7th April last month!! I find it delightful yet hard to believe that one year has past since my first post!! Read it here. My personal favourite initial post is this one.

I had been experiencing internet problems for a week; that too is one reason why I could not confirm my blogs birthdate. Anyways, whatever alibi I may present, its indeed a shame for me!!

The funniest part is that I was very excited since the advent of April. Usually husbands do something special to please their blogger wives..like purchase domain or gift a new logo etc. But to my utter dismay, my husband went out of the way and landed in complete disaster!! He got my google adsense account deactivated :( I was already mad at him for not spending enough time with me since our daughter has born and this thing was the last straw!! I decreased my communication with him in retaliation but it hardly made any difference to him as he had been spending about 18 hours in his hospital :(

When he realised that I am cross with him, he promised to gift me a solitaire which I had been eyeing for a year now. But as anticipated, my stingy husband bailed out!! :D I know I should be putting a weep icon here but somehow this move of his is so expected that I cant stop laughing!!

Its really hard to go out with a newborn at home. Today finally, we decided to leave her with her grandma and went out for a small blog anniversary celebration sans any jewellery shopping :D
Of course I wore a new DKNY dress and dolled up as I would in case of a birthday or anniversary :D

love the Roman architecture...

Not every one is born with a platinum spoon or into a blue blooded family. But who does not like getting pampered?? Royal families may have become extinct now barring a few like the British monarchy, The Grimaldies of Monaco etc, but there are more and more ways to make feel like a royal!! The advent of seven star hotels, royal expresses etc all promise to make you feel nothing less than royalty!! The only downside is that you have to splurge a lot of moolah for such an experience!!

I believe indulging in such treatments once a while does no harm. But I have to take care of my wallet too!! Feeling special at the cost of burning a hole in the pocket is simply not permissible :D
So I am constantly looking for places that make you feel special at not so special prices! I am a pretty complacent person; I can settle for the second best :D

Last year, I decided to make my hubby feel pampered on his birthday. I had heard a lot about The Kingdom Of Dreams and decided to take him there. Treating him was an alibi, its always me who wants special treatment no matter whosoever' s birthday it is!! I was dying to visit this place and this was the perfect ocassion!!

Well this artificial kingdom really lives upto its name...its indeed like a dream!! Extravagant decor with scrumptious food and live music and dance summed up the day perfectly!!

I would love to recreate this at my home...
