So who does not like a royal treatment? Even if we can't afford, what's the harm in dreaming by the way? So which place in India is the land of royals? Yes you got it right..Rajasthan! My favourite state of India which never fails to surprise me every time I visit.

Rajasthan is not only a favourite among Indians but is a sought after destination for foreign tourists. Celebrities come here to either get married or to renew their vows. Rings a bell? Yes I am talking about Elizabeth Hurley, Madonna, Katy Perry, etc etc. Foreigners love the rich culture and luxury which the royal lifestyle of Rajasthan oozes with. The most visited cities are Jaipur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Mount Abu , Jodhpur...and the list goes on.

Jaipur is not only the capital of this royal state but also its largest city. Also known as 'pink city', this place is studded with forts and palaces. The hit song 'Seher gulabi' is based on the beautiful pink architecture of this heritage city. Usually its the first stop for tourists visiting Rajasthan. As a result the Jaipur tourist hotels are always brimming with visitors. The tourism department is very active and hence the Jaipur tourism hotels offer first class service to its visitors.

Since Jaipur is just a five hour drive from Delhi, we keep on visiting this pink city. This place offers a welcome respite from the hustle bustle of Delhi by immersing us in its royal treatment. It was a couple of months back when we last visited this city. Every time we try different hotel bookings in Jaipur no matter however great our previous stay was. This is because I want to enrich my experience with variety!

The last time we stayed at a heritage haveli. Usually the present generation ( or a few back) had inherited 'Havelis ' from their ancestors. Hailing from royal families, the Rajputs used to have a lot of land area as well as palaces. A 'Haveli' can be considered to be a palatial mansion. As the monarchy faded, so did the palaces. The intelligent and business savvy new generation converted these havelis into hotels. Thus these heritage havelis have every bit of the modern amenities which you can think of without losing its royal charm! Such an idyllic combination!

First of all I am late in writing this post. A fortnight late to be precise. Actually things were so crazy busy that I did not even have time to transfer the photographs to my computer let alone pen down this special post! Well, very special indeed! Our daughter turned one! Phew! time flies! It seems that she was born just yesterday! But our tiny girl completed one year of her existence in this world!

To start with, we did not celebrate in Delhi. It was her paternal Grand pa's wish to have a gala party in Varanasi. It would be the official introduction of his granddaughter in his locality. So things became more hectic as we had to travel 800 kms with an infant. To add more woes, she was not well. I had already decided to take a break from the hospital for a few months. Otherwise things would have been tougher. I plan to continue to take care of her till she is old enough.

Our arrival was brimming with excitement. We were travelling with my sister in law and her younger son; and having two naughty babies made everything tougher as well as crazier! My inlaws were waiting with their arms wide open for the two apple of their eyes!

The big day started with "Tika" in which the elders shower the kid with blessings. Then my favourite activity began...decorations! We had professionals to do it but I could not detach myself from the process! I blew balloons and played with them till my mom chided like anything. I have loved balloons from the time I was born and continue to love them. After a yummy lunch, it was time for the religious rituals.

The ceremony started with the recitation of Sundar Kand. After that there was a Havana and Arti. It was after that we got into the party mood. I changed into a more comfortable outfit from my saree. My daughter changed dresses around 4 times ( party outfits) and only a mom can understand what an uphill task it is :D

We all were at the party venue ( our terrace) but something very important was missing...the Cake! We had ordered a 5 kg Barbie cake which was very fragile and needed utmost care to be delivered. My husband had asked two of his closest friends to pick it up and bring it with them. But they were stuck in a hopeless traffic jam. Hell broke loose when they could not budge even an inch. My sister in law suggested that we get another cake but thankfully the cake arrived late but safe!

In all the evening was a splendid one. We being the hosts had lots to do so could not enjoy much. But it was a very special day for us. After all would our daughter ever turn one again? No!! :)

P.s Has anyone noticed my short tresses? I had chopped off a considerable length of my waist long hair in an impulse. Surprisingly everyone in the hospital had noticed it the very next day except for my husband! He noticed after his sister remarked :D that too after a month :D

A Barbie cake for our Barbie daughter

A little pre birthday celebration at our place...Me and my cousin sister in law have swapped our daughters!!

So what if its my daughter's birthday? I have the right to play with balloons too!!

I just love balloons...period.

Its time for Homa or Havana

My dad has more interest in his grand daughter than the rituals...

Princess of the day...with her maternal Grandpa

Everyone seems to be enjoying except for the birthday girl herself!!

Its mothers galore! 3 mothers...My mom (left) MIL (right) and me! I keep on forgetting that I am a mom too :D

The host gets to eat at the end...It was such a crazy busy day that I did not even have time to take pictures of my outfit!

This is my last day with my fabulous zenfone5. I hope you have read two of my fabulous days with my Zenfone5 here and here. Sadly I had to part with it after today's post! It almost became a part of me and it was my constant companion during this week!

My Zenfone ...my constant companion...
I am so not a morning person. You must have known from here and here. However off days should have something healthy in our routine..or at least my husband thinks so. But I believe weekends should be spent in the bed..sleeping. So this Sunday he dragged me for a morning walk. Walk or stroll, I never leave home without my headphones. And with my Zenfone5, music is a grand experience. The ASUS Golden ear team has done a great job with the SonicMaster technology to deliver an incredible sound experience!
Hubs also used the Google Fit app on my zenfone to keep a tab on his fitness!!
Miss Sleepy eyes...my Zenfone entertains me with its awesome sound quality during my morning stroll.
After a lazy stroll we were obviously famished. I usually consult my smartphone for recipes on weekends. With my zenfone, Google Chrome runs easy and smooth. The ZenUI is exclusively designed to meet my needs. I can multitask seamlessly without any lags. All that for which I need a laptop can be done on my Zenfone but without any hassles of a lappy! Also its increased touch sensitivity helps me operate with my gloves on! So I can use use my phone during baking or cleaning too!

Cooking is more fun with my Zenfone!!

Usually I used to worry about taking care of my phone while cooking so as not to soil it. But my Zenfone5 has an antifingerprint coating to prevent smudges. Also its Corning Gorilla Glass3 protects it from scratches and accidental screen damages. So worry free in the kitchen too!

Damage proof screen of my Zenfone means worry free in the kitchen!!

Multitasking can be tough especially when you are short of time. Juggling a full time job, studies and a blog with an eleven month old can be quite daunting. I have so many things to consult on the internet on weekends but I neither have the time to switch on my laptop nor my daughter lets me keep it on. Hence I need a smartphone which can multitask like me.

My Zenfone has 1.6 Ghz Intel dual core processor and power vr GPU with a 2 GB RAM which makes switching between tabs very easy. Heavy web pages can be browsed effortlessly and I am able to multitask absolutely flawlessly. My zenfone operates as fast as my laptop!

In order to be a good parent, I need to update my mothering skills and learn regularly. One of my favourite sites to do that is Baby centre. I enjoyed reading baby centre with my baby on my Zenfone5.

Reading Babycentre with my infant...

On weekends I have more time to update my social media. With my Zenfone5 I updated my Instagram and facebook page in a jiffy!

My Zenfone has Kindle which thrills a bibliophile like me!!
In the afternoon after I put my little one to sleep, I had a bit of 'me' time. I took out time for my passion :reading and chatted with my bestie on my Zenfone to catch up with her developments. My Zenfone has Amazon Kindle where I can find the books which I don't have in my library.

Me time....chatting and reading...

My Zenone helps decide my outfits with the Polyvore App!!
In the evening we decided to go for a small outing. A national Tribal festival was going on and it was silly to miss it. For dressing up I used my favourite app Polyvore! My Zenphone helped me choosing my outfit too! What could a fashionista ask more for in a phone!

Getting ready for the date...watching a hair tutorial on You tube on my Zenfone...
Then I switched on YouTube to see a hair tutorial. Thanks to the impressive touch responsiveness with a quick response time of 60ms, my fingers can operate like a mouse! Every tap, swipe and gesture is registered immediately.

Satisfying my selfie fetish before heading out!!
After I got dressed, I took a selfie of myself. One of the best features of the Zenfone 5 is its 8MP rear camera. It's infused with ASUS's unique Pixelmaster technology which combines five brightness enhancing lenses to achieve perfect photos.

Shooting a video with my Zenfone...
The tribal festival was the perfect place to use my zenfone for capturing those awesome performances. Its low light mode and Night Mode takes amazing captures at night!
Awesome photogrphs in low light...

Capturing video of the amazing performances....my Zenfone makes incredible videos...that too in low light!!
After we came back, the power was cut off. It was dark and we were having trouble in opening the door. My Zenfone came to our rescue with its bright flashlight! Could you possibly expect a smartphone to have a torch! No! But its an incredible experience with the Zenfone!

My laptop becomes my phone with the PC connect....
I backed up all the photos and videos we took of our outing in the drive. ASUS Open Cloud technology integrates the cloud space on Google Drive, Dropbox, and Microsoft One Drive right into my favorite ASUS apps to make accessing my content as flexible as possible like file manager, music player and gallery app. My photos and music files can be streamed directly from the cloud to my Zenfone, eliminating the need to download & store the files in my phone’s memory.

It was a tiring yet fruitful Sunday. Tomorrow was Monday again and I had to gear up for the coming week. After I tucked my baby, I put on my headphones. It was as if my Zenfone5 was singing me lullabies and I dozed off.

Tired and sleepy...dozing off with my Zenfone!!

I have already started planning for a summer vacation. Okay, I know that I had just come back from a trip to Rajasthan and Varanasi. But summers would be here soon and what's a summer without any vacation? Since I travel so much, I am constantly on the lookout for good bargains.
Recently I was browsing the net for cheap deals when I stumbled across this site...27 coupons.com. Nowadays a lot of discount sites are doing the rounds and it is tough to say which one works. Thankfully I was not disappointed with this site and scored some major deals!
Patrika is the largest Hindi news portal in India. Such a important site has integrated 27 coupons in their site. So everytime you read news, you would get tempted by the myriad of discounts on their site!
As much as I love luxury, I love saving too! In fact, who does not? I love spending the 'saved' money on shopping! And if that shopping includes discounts too, then its a win win situation for me! This exactly I got to do with 27 coupons!
When I came across this site, I was tempted by the long list of brands associated with it. From fashion ones like myntra and jabong to travel ones like make my trip and cleartip; online biggies like amazon and ebay to food delights like dominoes! You name it and you can instantly find a discount coupon of your choice of brand to tempt you!

Then I registered myself . On registering, I got 250points! Also I could earn more reward points by sharing coupons!

The fact that this site had been integrated into Patrika already proved its mettle. So as expected, my experience turned out to be pretty nice. After a long time, I enjoyed reading the news in Hindi. This site covers the entire India and is very easy to navigate! The states are described separately and the different sections of news like entertainment, sports, politics etc are provided separate sections!
Its actually a shame that we shy away from our very own national language. I know people who take pride in saying that they can't speak Hindi or they cannot count in Hindi. That's something to be ashamed of I believe. Even though Hindi is not my mother tongue ( I am a Bengali), I am well versed in Hindi. And as far as my mother tongue goes, I can very well speak, read and write Bengali. Its intrigues people because I have in been brought up in North India and don't have anyone to talk to in Bengali except my parents!

Patrika..the largest online Hindi portal of India
Coming back to 27 coupons, I needed to get fight and hotel bookings done. I opened up the makemy trip coupon section and got amazing discounts! There are coupon codes which you can apply during checkout and bam! you get instant discounts! I saved around 30% on my hotel bookings!

For local transportation, I opened Ola Cabs. There were many tempting discount coupons which would make travelling a pleasure! Also signing up on Ola Cabs gives you Rs 100 in your wallet!

Have you heard of travelling without burning a hole in your pocket? This is what it is!

Delhi is a major tourist attraction. It is not only the capital of India but a major historical spot integrated into a high tech city. Therefore it attracts millions of tourists every year. As far as international tourism goes, the numbers have changed by leaps and bounds in the past years. Earlier Mumbai was the gateway to India. But now the majority of international airlines have directs flights to Delhi. The result being great increase in the inflow of tourists in Delhi. As far as accommodation needs go, there are a good number of hotels near Delhi.

The number of domestic tourists visiting this place way outnumber the international ones. For thousands of people. Delhi is a dream. While thinking of tourism, we can't just concentrate on the affluent ones. Not all can afford to travel via planes. That too when the Indian railway network has so many trains to Delhi. The major stations that cater to the tourists are New Delhi raiway station, Old Delhi railway station, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Sarai Rohila etc. For those arriving at the former three stations, there are hundreds of accomodation options in Paharganj. For those arriving at Sarai Rohilla, there are a good number of hotels in North Delhi.

With hundreds of websites nowadays, hotel bookings in Delhi have become a cakewalk. You can pay via your debit or credit card, transfer cash to their account or choose to pay later! I personally prefer to pay in advance as it secures my room. But I have to admit that I develop jitters when it comes to booking abroad. What if they dupe me? Anyways that can't deter me from travelling!

I being a travel freak is on the constant lookout for good deals in hotels. As much as I love staying in luxury hotels, its not always possible to rake out so much moolah all the time. So I have shortlisted a few must haves on my list. My hotel should have a swimming pool, clean rooms and centrally located. If its a beach holiday, it should be at a walking distance from the beach. If the hotel satisfies all these conditions, it would not matter to me if its a luxury or a budget one. Sometimes it feels good to save money on accomodation. I spend that money on shopping!

In Delhi where there are a myriad of luxury hotels, I tend to keep visiting them often. Be it our regular doctor parties or the less frequent blogger meet ups, they are excellent venues. There is no upper limit when it comes to luxury. But its good to keep yourself grounded!

Recently I visited the Taj Mahal hotel. After being to almost every five star in Delhi, I would say the Taj group has the most beautiful of hotels. But having said that, majority of the hotels offer very warm hospitality in Delhi.

Well manicured lawns...

Nice lobby...

beautiful walls...

A place to sit in the garden...

last but not least...good food!!
