Adaaran Hudhuranfushi: A slice of paradise in the Indian Ocean

by - 4/01/2023

What comes to your mind when you hear the word Maldives? I bet it's the turquoise waters of the Indian ocean, silver sand beaches and expensive resorts. The last part is probably one of the reasons why not too many people opt for Maldives or plan a short trip (read 4 nights only) in this stunning island nation.

Well we planned to travel as a family of four; and believe me I detest short vacations. Did you know that it's a scientifically proven fact that an ideal vacation should be of 9 days? Our brains tend to be at the happiest on the eighth day and then we start feeling homesick. Well, it's a fact!

Anyways, since my parents refused to babysit our kids for 2 weeks; we decided to travel with them. It was our first time travelling with kids (the younger one had just arrived). All the 20 countries done before were kid free; my parents were always taking care of our elder one.

So we had planned on doing Sri Lanka and Maldives together. Staying a luxury resort in Maldives as a family of four for a week would have cost us a bomb; so we planned it from another perspective.

We booked a cute hotel in a local island Dhiffushi (more on that on the next post) and travelled to Adaaran in Hudhuranfushi for a day; to imbibe the ultra luxury feeling.

Since we were staying in Dhiffushi, the people at our property had one day travel packages to Adaaran Hudhuranfushi. So I wouldn't say that we chose this property, it was our only option but we were thrilled nonetheless.

Our speedboat came at around 10 AM and it took around 1 hour to reach the resort. The journey on the water was nothing less than heavenly. Will elaborate more on that later. The resort was literally paradise on earth. We were welcomed with wet towels and drinks to freshen up, during the check-in process.

After that, we were free birds! We didn't know where to start from, as we had so much to cover in 10 hours. We thought the mid day snacks would be a good idea 😉. So there we were in the cafe, munching on fresh fruits and cake and sipping on mocktails.

After that we proceeded to the pool area. I had an infant in my arms and a toddler was clinging to my husband. We didn't plan to swim right that very moment, as my toddler had a fashion shoot scheduled with me (mom blogger problems 😂) So I as dressed her up in a couple of outfits to be shot, the husband went to the pool bar and snagged a few more fancy mocktails for us.

We started exploring the property in foot. The sand beneath our feet felt like butter and the surroundings were nothing less than a tropical paradise. It was quite humid in the afternoon, but the views of the ocean on one side and the cottages and palm trees on the other kept us cool, not to forget the constant sipping of our mocktails.

The end of the island where the bridge to the ocean villas started, had the famous swing on the sea. However it was high tide, so it was beneath the water. Me and my toddler wanted a real adventure, so we started swimming towards the swing. Husband of course stayed on the land with our infant and camera.

The shots we took were straight forward magical, although we were fully drenched. This made us hungry, and we proceeded towards the restaurant for one of the best buffet spreads we had in Maldives.

In a nutshell, it was one day cherished to the fullest. It surely was expensive, but that it what you save for right?

  9. True, even I feel Maldives is over priced when it comes to villas though the luxury and service maybe good no doubt. But when the island itself is so beautiful how does it matter where you stay. You are there to enjoy the water n relax. Love the pictures.
