While February is coming to an end, the woes associated with summers are going to begin. There is hardly any spring in Delhi. We basically have two seasons, extreme summers and cold winters. Anyways, march happens to be comfortable most of the time; pleasantly cool only if the Delhi sun happens to shine a bit less vehemently :)

The best part of February according to me are the fresh blooms everywhere!! The choicest of flowers are seen encroaching every piece of land you can lay your eyes upon!! Sadly, these flowers began to wither as soon as the temperature begins to rise. Therefore, all the hard work people put up in harvesting such colourful blooms are rewarded in this month itself. Yes, by rewards I mean the various flower shows where people with green thumbs can exhibit their hard work proudly!!

Every year for the past 27 years, Delhi tourism is organising a Garden festival in the sprawling Garden of five senses. Year by year this festival is getting bigger. This year, the theme was Vertical Garden. Apart from the flowers in various types of display, I love the fact that one can buy all sorts of plants, seeds and everything related to gardening from these places!!

The venue was quite far from our place; and the decision to pay a visit was an impromptu one. Hubby had a symposium in the daytime. So I tagged along; sitting in an orthopaedic symposium can be daunting as there are no females in the entire orthopaedic community!! So I was the only XXgene sitting inside the hall!! When we reached the garden, I was already tired from the lectures. But the ordeal was yet to begin. Being Sunday, the place was overtly crowded. And the real adventure began when we began to explore the entire area on foot. We covered as much as the time limit would permit; physical endurance is never a criteria when my husband is my accompaint (which he is most of the time ). Anyways our eyes had an ultimate feast savouring the gorgeous flora :)

Before I got hitched, I made some verbal (but serious) agreements with my fiance... he he :D Some of the most important ones included exotic vacations on anniversary, regular getaways ( there is a lot to explore in India ), regular gifts and flowers and so on. The term which scared my husband the most was the exotic vacation part. But nonetheless, he has fulfilled it so far :) As I said here, last Sunday was our third wedding anniversary. This time due to a very important reason we could not travel abroad to celebrate our special day. Our next exotic trip has been postponed till the next year. Sadly, we could not even plan on going somewhere far from Delhi too. But me, the eternal planner zeroed down to a place which seemed far but yet so near :)

After a quick but nice breakfast, we set off to our destination, Surajkund. Its a tiny town adjacent to industrial city Faridabad. Every year, for the past 27 years, haryana tourism department has been organising an annual mela (fair/carnival) in which states all over India as well as foreign countries take part. The fair is spread over hundreds of acres. There are millions of things to buy from the thousands of shops and hundreds of things to eat!! In short, its paradise in one day sans the insane crowd!!

This year the theme state was Goa. The Goa pavilion was so naturally decorated that it gave us a true tropical feeling amidst the chill!! The international partner nation this year was Sri Lanka, again a tropical paradise. So what if I could not dip in the waters this year, I surely got a tropical and beachy feel!!
My legs were swollen and sore at the end of the day from the constant walking. Even then, we could explore only half of it!! An ardent shopaholic, I shopped to my heart's delight; hubby didnot utter a single word as I had saved his lakhs of moolah by not going on a foreign trip :D The food served in the food courts were amazing!! Though fine dining was saved for the night as I shared here.  Even it was a single day out, we had fun to our heart's content!!

February has  been my favourite month of the year since three years as I have said here. Let me stop beating around the bush and come straight to the point. It was our third wedding anniversary last Sunday!! Yes, even its hard for me too to believe that its been three years that me, daddy's little girl had left her Dad's home and moved to her husband's!!

These three years have been quite a journey. As we get ready for the next stage of our lives, the past three years have been indeed an adventure!! I and my husband are complete opposites!! I am a type A personality while hes typically type B!! Being the youngest in his family, he had been pampered like hell. I, being my parents' only child have had a rosy life too!! The only thing that bound us together was that we were head over heels with each other!!

So what happens when two such people with adjustment problems and drastically different upbringing fall in love and decide to get married?? Ah fireworks I suppose!! Yes indeed!! The dating time was like a bed of roses. My mom used to tell me that problems start when two individuals start living under one roof. Well I understood that after I moved in with him post wedding!! The initial 6 months of our marriage were nothing less than a series of dynamites :D I am a cleanliness freak, he nonchalant about decor and stuff; I was a fresh medical graduate, he a busy surgeon; I an extravagant shopaholic, he intelligently frugal!! Phew!! our issues were endless. But at the end of the day, he always made me feel that he is the one for me!! No matter how much we fought like cats and dogs, we were madly in love :)

Things changed gradually. We both matured and he thankfully started paying heed to cleanliness and orderliness. I too lowered my level of control freakiness and once again peace was established in our love nest!!

Three years since that period, we both laugh at our childishness. Those are real sweet memories. As we look forward to endless years of love and commitment, here are the pictures of the romantic candle lit dinner on our anniversary night.

A very happy Valentine's day to all my lovely readers!! On this auspicious occasion of love, I am in a not so obvious romantic mood :(  A die hard romantic myself, my stingy life partner does not believe in Valentine's Day as I said here. He justifies by saying that there should not be a single day for celebrating love. Sensible but soo unromantic!!

Today in his hospital, all his orthopaedic colleagues are on leave because they have to go on romantic dates with their respective wives. Poor me, I am left fuming alone in my parents' house. Hubby is so sly that he made sure that I am in the pampering hands of my Mom and not alone in our own house :D Seems the Orthopaedic department is the only thing that is benefiting from my husband's non committal to Valentine's day!!

Our wedding anniversary is just 4 days before Vday. Three years before, the year when we got married, things were so new and different. That year i.e in 2011, on 14 th Feb, we were just done with the myriads of rituals in both of our families. One of my favourite was the post nuptual ritual which was performed when I entered my In laws' place for the first time. As I sit alone in front of my laptop...imagining my hubby in his Operation Theatre ( I didnot get a chance to talk to him since he left early in the morning), I recapitulate all the beautiful events that sealed our eternal love traditionally and legally.

In the following pictures I look so naive and younger and innocent!! Hard to believe that three years have matured me so much!! All complaints aside, thanks to God for giving me such a wonderful life partner!!

my first step in my new home...I drop this 'kalash' (holy vessel) with my right foot...
both feet dipped in red dye 'aalta ', I waltz into the house with my coloured footprints all over...
my trail of footprints...
my very first stint in the kitchen...not only in my inlaws' place but in my life too!! Yes I had never cooked before as my parents were overtly protective and pampering :D My Dad was scared of the brickbats I was going to get because of this; but fortunately I turned out to be a fabulous cook afterwards!!

my first bite at my inlaws' place

with my newly wedded husband and my sister in law and her superbly mischievous son....my new world in a nutshell :)

Indian Bloggers
In every corner of the world, there is a different date for new year. Take the case of India only. North Indians celebrate New year on Diwali, some on Holi, Bengalis in mid April, Muslims during Muharram and so on…While the English New Year is celebrated with pomp and show everywhere,  different new year occasions are simply an excuse for extended celebrations!!

I did not know about Chinese new year before 3 years. The reason being whichever country we visited, during our anniversary, (ie around 1st week of Feb), we saw new year festivities. Then we came to know that Chinese New Year falls around January end to mid February. Wow!! Now that is what I call amazing coincidence!!

The best part about this holiday is the elaborate and robust red decorations. The Chinese are fond of red and they make sure they adorn everythingwith red. Red lamps, dragons, ribbons, fruits coated with red paper…its red red everywhere!!

Last year this day was on 10th feb. we were in Manila, Philippines. Manila has a huge China town in Buninda district. We visited China Town on 7th Feb when festivities were in full swing. The entire town was painted red, literally. Even daily items like fruits, vegetables and fish had red ribbons around them. What a sight!!

The most interesting thing was the wishing tree where people wrote their wishes on paper and tied them to get them burnt on New year day. We also went to the China Town Mall where we had a hearty meal. Hubby for a change found an egg meal (without any meat). Last year was the year of snake and it turned out to be fabulous for us!!

This year, New Year was on 31 january. This is the year of the horse. Hope it turns out to be awesome for all of us!!

any guess as to what is written??
