Nainital: The City of Lakes

by - 7/21/2017

There are a very few places in North India that I have not been to. Having said that the Himalayas never cease to amaze me. I have been to almost every corner of Uttarakhand and still I can revisit the places again and again. It had been quite a while that we had been to somewhere. All of a sudden, my parents surprised us with a trip to Nainital. I had been to this city of lakes twice before; but it was my first time with the husband and my daughter and hence I could not be more excited!
There are two main things that set this place apart (and hence more beautiful) than rest of the Himalayan towns. First, the huge Naini lake and secondly the omnipresent clouds! There are only a handful of towns in India where you can watch the clouds floating up close and personal. Meghalaya (the land of clouds), Darjeeling and of course Nainital. Sometimes the clouds are so dense that the background simply vanishes! They are like a riddle!
The morning we reached, we were dead tired. My parents reached there two days before and we two days later. The reason being we had already booked our staycation in Sohna. Being exhausted did not however deter us from exploring the place the moment we arrived. We freshened up, handed over our munchkin to her grandparents and off we set to explore the place! Luck, however, did not favour us.
Its rainy season already and the scenario is worse on the hills. It had been continuously raining in Nainital and it was freezing! We decided to walk along the lake and the clouds were plaaying peek a boo with us. We could not even try out boating as the visibility was very low. Although playing with the clouds was a mesmerising experience altogether! The next two days were better and very soon I would be sharing all the interesting spots with you.
Coming to the outfit, I chose a baby pink tee with the perfect words: Lets Just Go! These favourite words of mine are available on PrintOctopus
