Riomaggiore, Cinque Terre, Italy

The famous Fisherman's wharf of Riomaggiore
Riomaggiore was the last village of our Cinque Terre trip. The sad part is that I had a lot of plans for this place but could not fulfill them as it had got dark. After the grueling hike from Manarola, all I wanted was to relax and absorb the beauty. I did that; no doubt but since we were out of light, we could not take pictures.
Riomaggiore has a long fisherman's wharf. I had seen so many pictures of this area that I was very fascinated. It was dusk when we reached and we could not really figure from where we should start clicking. We tried going to the starting point of the Lover's Lane or Blue trail so that we could get an aerial shot of the village. We started walking uphill without keeping track of anything else. By the time we reached a preferred spot, we realised it was deserted all around. It was almost dark and it was a secluded spot in the hills, overlooking the Ligurian Sea. Suddenly all the warnings regarding mugging in Italy started flashing on our minds. We froze in fear. The sun was going down into the Ligurian Sea; and as soon as the sunset was over, we started our way back. The path was rocky and slippery and it was dark already. Our apprehension knew no bounds.

As soon as we started seeing passerbyes, we slowed down. I then started absorbing the beauty of the Italian alleys. It was our last day in Cinque Terre and I was already nostalgic.
We had a late lunch...almost an early dinner in Manarola. Hence a full dinner was out of question. However I could not resist some Italian knick knacks. So we got a huge pizza piece and a gelato.
We strolled near the railway station till long..gazing at the stars. It was our last night there and we reaped it full advantage.
